The first hot air balloon flight was piloted by the Montgolfier brothers, and took place in 1783, in Annonay.Since then, the town has celebrated the memory of that first flight and the mythical great scientific breakthrough. Each year on the first weekend of June, Annonay celebrates the anniversary of the first flight. The Fête de la Montgolfière or hot air balloon festival brings the town to life and attracts many visitors.Costumes, reconstructions of the first flight, Air Shows and colorful balloons ... for this one weekend Annonay goes back in time!Many workshops will help you familiarize yourself with the history of ballooning. Alongside the festival, the town of Annonay offers visitors the chance to take their first flights to discover the Ardêche from the clouds.
